About Should I Grade It?
Should I Grade It? is a Pokémon card grade checker for collectors who want to know, before paying a grading fee, whether a card is worth sending in.
What it does
You photograph a card on your phone. The app identifies it, measures its centering, corners, edges and surface, estimates the PSA grade it would most likely get, and shows what it's worth raw and graded. Then it does the sum that matters: the graded value, minus the grading fee and selling costs, against selling it raw. It also keeps a collection that tracks its value daily, and a price guide for every card.
Who makes it
The site is written and tested by Rowan Hale, a Pokémon card collector and reseller. Every price in the guides comes from real sales and is dated, so you can see how current it is.
Where the numbers come from
- Raw prices are TCGplayer market prices for the exact printing, refreshed daily from TCGplayer's full Pokémon catalog.
- Graded prices are medians of recent completed eBay sales at each grade, for PSA, CGC and Beckett.
- Card recognition uses CardSight AI, then matches the card to its exact TCGplayer listing.
- Grade estimates are measured on your phone from your photos, using PSA's published centering limits and its rule of grading to the weakest area.
Estimates are estimates. Photos can hide flaws a grader will see under magnification, so the app always shows a range and the reason behind every subgrade.
Independent
Should I Grade It? isn't affiliated with PSA, CGC, Beckett, TCGplayer, eBay, Nintendo, Creatures, Game Freak or The Pokémon Company. It doesn't sell cards or take a cut of grading submissions, so its only interest is giving you the right answer.
