Card centering calculator
Measure your card's centering and see the best PSA grade it allows. Type in the four border widths, or upload a photo and the borders are measured for you.

PSA centering limits by grade
| PSA grade | Front | Back |
|---|---|---|
| PSA 10 Gem Mint | about 55/45 | 75/25 |
| PSA 9 Mint | about 60/40 | 90/10 |
| PSA 8 NM-MT | about 65/35 | 90/10 |
| PSA 7 NM | about 70/30 | 90/10 |
| PSA 6 EX-MT | about 80/20 | 90/10 |
| PSA 5 and 4 | about 85/15 | 90/10 |
| PSA 3 and 2 | about 90/10 | 90/10 |
PSA words these as approximate limits, and a grader applies them by eye, so a card a point past a line isn't automatically ruled out. PSA tightened the PSA 10 limit to a single 55/45 figure in January 2025; guides that still say 60/40 for a 10 are out of date.
How to measure without a photo
Use a ruler with millimetre marks, or a centering tool. Measure each border at the middle of its side, from the card's edge to where the yellow border meets the inner frame. Full-art cards with no border are judged by where the artwork sits, which is harder to measure by hand; the photo upload works best for those.
Questions
What centering does a PSA 10 need?
About 55/45 or better on the front, both left to right and top to bottom, and 75/25 or better on the back.
How is a centering split calculated?
Add the two opposite borders, then divide the wider one by the total. A 3.0 mm left border and a 2.4 mm right border is 3.0 divided by 5.4, which is about 56/44.
Does it matter what unit I use?
No. Centering is a ratio, so millimetres, pixels or ruler marks all give the same split, as long as all four borders use the same unit.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The measurement runs in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.
Why does the back matter?
PSA checks the back too, more loosely: a PSA 10 allows up to 75/25 on the back, and grades 9 and below allow 90/10.
