Is it worth grading? calculator
Enter what your card is worth raw and at the grade you expect. You'll see what you'd net either way after PSA fees, shipping and eBay fees, the break-even price, and a clear call.
Work it out
How the decision is made
Grading pays off when the card's value at its likely grade, minus selling fees and the cost of grading, comes out clearly ahead of selling it raw. This calculator calls it Grade it when you'd be $50 or more ahead and still not lose money one grade lower, Borderline when you'd gain less than that or lose at one grade lower, and Don't grade it when you'd come out behind.
The PSA fees are as of October 2026. PSA paused its cheaper Value tiers in June and added Standard at $59.99 in September; the PSA cost guide has every tier. Check PSA's site before you submit, since its prices change often.
The hardest number to get right is the grade itself. The centering calculator tells you the ceiling centering allows, and the full checker estimates the whole grade from photos.
Questions
How do I know if my card is worth grading?
Compare what it sells for raw with what it sells for at the grade it's likely to get, minus the grading fee, shipping and any selling fees. If the graded route comes out clearly ahead, and still doesn't lose money if the grade comes back one lower, it's worth grading.
What does it cost to grade a card at PSA in 2026?
The cheapest open tier is Standard at $59.99 per card. With shipping and insurance both ways, a single card comes to roughly $80 to $95 all in. PSA's cheaper Value tiers have been paused since June 2026.
What fees does eBay take?
This calculator uses a 13.25% final value fee, a $0.40 per-order fee and about $5 for a shipping label. Leave the eBay box unticked if you're keeping the card or selling it elsewhere.
Where do I find the value at a grade?
Recent sold listings on eBay are the most reliable guide. Type the card's name and the calculator gives you links straight to its raw and graded sold listings.
What does break-even mean here?
It's the price the card would need to sell for at the expected grade just to match selling it raw, after all fees and costs. Anything above it is profit from grading.
Want the whole card graded, not just one part? Point your phone at it: the checker measures centering, corners, edges and surface, identifies the card, and shows its TCGplayer price raw and graded.
